MoorNest documentation
MoorNest backs up your clients' Windows and Linux file servers and Hyper-V hosts on a schedule, checks every backup can be read back, and tells you when something needs you. A small agent on each server encrypts the data before it leaves the server and sends it to MoorNest Cloud, to a NAS at the client's site, or to both. You run everything from the console at https://app.moornest.com/, and restores start only there, with your password and an authenticator code.
These pages are written for the technicians who set MoorNest up and look after it. Each one covers one job, step by step, using the same labels you see in the console.
Get started
- How MoorNest works: the agent, the console, storage, schedules, incremental backups and checks.
- Sign in and two-factor: first sign-in, your authenticator app, trusted browsers and lost authenticators.
- Add a server: create an install code and install the agent on Windows or Linux.
Back up
- Choose what to back up: pick folders or Hyper-V VMs, the schedule and the options.
- Storage: MoorNest Cloud and NAS: where backups go, encryption, deletion locks and keeping two copies.
- Set up a site gateway: keep backups on a NAS at the client's site.
Restore
- Restore files and folders: pick a night, pick files, and restore them to a new folder.
- Restore a Hyper-V VM: bring a VM back as a new, switched-off VM.
Manage
- Alerts and status: live status, issues, email alerts and agent logs.
- Agent updates: update one server or all of them, and what happens if an update fails.
- Clients and team: workspaces, roles, inviting people and the audit log.
Help
- Troubleshooting: answers to the problems you are most likely to meet.
